Scott jokes about fish story, fear of alligators

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Gov. Rick Scott is in a good mood after touring the Florida Panhandle to promote its recovery from last year's oil spill.

Scott joked about a whopper of a fish story he told during the tour and his fear of alligators during a visit Friday to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in Tallahassee.

Scott said he was quickly corrected after claiming he'd caught a "40 foot" redfish. It was only 40 inches but still the biggest fish the governor said he'd ever caught.

As for gators, Scott said they are his "least favorite" form of Florida wildlife. He said he "didn't want to be that close to them" but later added he'd be "receptive" to shooting one it that would help promote Florida.
